"Don't Become A Victim Of Online Shopping Fraud"
Technology is quickly taking over many industries, making our lives easier and better. In the past 10 years we have seen a surge in the use of technology by individuals and organizations. The finance industry benefited profoundly from this sudden rise of access to these technologies. But, like most things, it came with its downside.
Criminals were also presented with an opportunity to scam people and steal funds from bank accounts. After concerns were raised, investigations were conducted. The methods by which these criminals succeed are now known. AirStall, as an online retailer that has the interests of society members at heart, wishes to keep you alert of such matters. We have drafted a 'to-do-list' that you can use to protect yourself against these crimes when you shop online:
1. Look for the lock icon in the toolbar and an ‘https’ in the web address before entering your card or other personal information on any site.
2. Do a Google search for any warnings from people who have used the site before.
3. Type in web addresses rather than clicking on links.
4. Don’t do online shopping using public Wi-Fi or unsecure networks, as fraudsters can easily hack these.
5. Use secure payment systems like PayPal or consider using one card for online purchases only.
Stay safe, don't become a victim of online shopping fraud!
